New Year, New Start..

December 17th, 2009 by Shane Douglas

I always love the patented New Years resolution. It’s interesting that every year we wait until January to make a new promise to ourselves. Maybe it’s be a better person, quit smoking, loose weight or just make more money. The problem with New Years resolutions is not the resolution itself, but the commitment that needs to come with them.

I always find it interesting that January I can’t find a single spot to park at my health club which had spots available all year long. But come February the parking lot is empty again? Why is that? Just one month ago these individuals vowed to change their life and now they have changed their mind? Is it possible that they thought it over and discovered it was a bad idea to get in shape?

The answer is NO it was just time for the commitment end of the bargain to kick in and they weren’t committed.

It’s a lot like our business model network marketing not to be confused with NOTwork marketing. The facts are 1000’s of people have changed their lives financially forever do to this GREAT industry. Yet many people believe there is some kind of magical secret or special plan that makes only a certain amount of people successful. Which is ridiculous.

When you decide to change your life wither it be in your health or financially  you must first decide what your going to do and then commit to achieving it.

People don’t have success in anything they do without having an unshakable commitment to what they are doing. Every year I set goals for myself both in the financial aspect and the health aspect of my life. Then I write down what I’m willing to do or sacerfice in order to achieve this goal or New Years resolution if you want to call it that.

Everyday I remind myself how important my goal is and I stay committed to having success in achieving it. I don’t let the first obstacle or person that wants to distract me from goal get in my way.

In order to change your life you must be willing to change your bad habits of not following through, especially when it comes to achieving your dreams.

This year when the clock strikes midnight make a promise to yourself to keep the promises you make to yourself. This is your year to change your life and change the lives around you.

This year commit to yourself to follow through.

Who are the right people for our business?

November 17th, 2009 by Shane Douglas

I would say the number one question I am asked in my business is “Who are the right people for our business?”. The answer is there is NO way of knowing.

Were in a interesting industry of timing, Our business is all about finding people at the right time of their life. What I mean by that is circumstances in peoples life’s change all the time with their jobs, family life etc. It’s so important for us all to understand that if we approach a person right after they have just had their biggest financial success in their life they may not be looking for an opportunity to like ours right now.

Or maybe we approach a person who has just had a horrible day at work and can’t stand his job anymore so he is excited to meet us because this is the opportunity to change his life from frustration to personal success.

It’s interesting because in the past I have sponsored people ranging for the #1 real estate salesman in our area who ended up doing absolutely nothing, to a housewife that has went on to make 1000’s of dollars because she had a HUGE desire and a BIG reason why she wanted to be successful in our business.

Could the #1 real estate guy be successful in network marketing? Absolutely but he has to want it, he has to be willing to pay the price in effort to be successful. That’s what’s GREAT about our industry its an equal opportunity for all, you don’t need special schooling or have to had previous success in something else in life.

You just have to bring a desire to succeed along with a work ethic and the willingness to follow through with what you want to accomplish for your family and yourself.

The most important point to know is when you get started in your new business don’t look back get focused on being successful and TAKE MASSIVE IMMEDIATE ACTION. Nothing else matters once you decide to get started don’t let anything or anyone get in your way. You were born to be a winner don’t let nay sayers steal this dream from you..

I’ll see it when I believe it!

October 29th, 2009 by Shane Douglas

Recently I read an article I thought I would pass it along. I believe these types of thoughts and actions are what separate all of us from the masses.

It has been estimated that we each have upwards of 50,000 thoughts per day. How many of yours are negative? Sometimes you have to do a mental spring- cleaning to get rid of those negative thoughts that have become ingrained attitudes. Stopping self- destructive thoughts is like stopping any other bad habit - it takes time and effort.

Among the most effective ways to do this are visualization and affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements about yourself that you repeat over and over in your head until they are programmed into your subconscious.

Visualization is mentally picturing yourself the way you want to be. You’ve heard the old saying “I’ll believe it when I see it”. Well, the reverse is also true: “I’ll see it when I believe it!” Affirmations and visualizations may not feel true at first. They may not even be true! However, they can become so.

Consider what happens when you tell yourself repeatedly, “I’m lousy at remembering names.” There will never be any improvement there. Therefore, if you catch yourself saying it, stop and immediately say to yourself, “I’m good at remembering names.”

Consider the effect of telling yourself, “I’m feeling pretty good today.” Or “I can lose ten pounds.” Or “I am good at getting people to see things my way.” Anything you say to yourself repeatedly will actually influence your reality.

Writing down your affirmations and putting them in some handy place - above your desk, on your bathroom mirror, on the dashboard of your car - will help keep them in mind as well as in sight. Use affirmations and visualizations to project what success will feel like and look like. Imagine, in as much detail as you possibly can, how you would feel as you achieve your promotion, or how the audience hangs on your every word during your speech, or how your confident presence causes heads to turn everywhere you go.

To enhance your charisma and persuasion (while making others feel good about themselves), you can apply the very same techniques by turning them outward. Begin thinking positive affirmations about people you work and live with.

For example, In your next interaction with someone you have noticed a positive change in, Let them know by just giving them a sincere compliment. You will have just sincerely complimented another person and put out a positive thought, and begun a new habit of approaching others using “appreciative inquiry”… finding the good in another person or situation first, instead of finding fault or flaws.

Criticizing is easy and sometimes becomes habit, but re-training your mind to find the positive attributes in yourself and others will win you friends, increase your income, and make you feel better about being a better you.

Lead Yourself

October 14th, 2009 by Shane Douglas

Here is a great realization below about having success and truely being a leader.

“Leader of one, leader of many, if I can’t lead one, I can’t lead any.”

This wonderful but confronting quote is of course referring to the fact that if we cannot lead ourselves, than it is impossible for us to lead others.  Nothing could be more true.

In network marketing, the masses (don’t be in the masses!) are always wishing, hoping that someone will come into their business and that they’ll be set for life.  And in network marketing, it does sometimes happen that way.

I don’t know about you, but my future is too important to hang it on a lottery
mentality.

As Art Williams former owner of A.L. Williams used to say, “Ain’t nobody gonna come along and
strike an oil well in your backyard.”  Uh, yeah.  That’s the way he really said it.

I prefer to say, “Quit looking for a leader and become one.”

We,…you and I must become the leaders that we wish to attract!
This is because we are actually NOT in the telecom business, but the
leadership business.  Those who understand that, make the most money.
Worth repeating, “Leader of one, leader of many, if I can’t lead one,
I can’t lead any.”
.
To You Your Success,
